What is DIRE DRYER?
Dire Dryer is a four minute animated SCAD 2026 capstone film.
It is a love letter to the revitalized-UPA style of animation from the 90's - early 2000's of children's cartoons, while utilizing a unique, hybrid approach of 2D and 3D animation. It is a celebration of imagination and childhood bravery and the idea that to a little kid in the dark, something as ordinary as a pile of laundry can become a monster.
This love letter was handwritten by a team of 18 talented students.
MAIN CHARACTERS
LYNN N.
Lynn N. is the main protagonist of Dire Dryer. She's a shy, demure little girl who just wants her Blankie back! She's terrified of the dryer, thunderstorms, and just about everything!
MOM
Mom is, well, Mom! She's Lynn's mother and primary caretaker. Mom is just doing her job and making sure the laundry gets done!
